The Problem Peakhour Solves - How to treat malicious bots and good customers separately

Automated traffic now accounts for more than half of global web traffic, with malicious bots responsible for around 40% of all traffic, according to the 2026 Thales/Imperva Bad Bot Report. For online businesses, unwanted automation can consume infrastructure capacity, slow genuine customers, scrape valuable content and prices, test stolen credentials, and distort marketing analytics and A/B testing.

The challenge is distinguishing useful automation—such as search crawlers, partners and AI agents—from harmful bots and scrapers. IP blocklists alone are increasingly ineffective, leaving teams chasing threats while risking disruption to legitimate users.

How Peakhour improves Web Traffic Management

Peakhour Traffic Manager helps teams understand what is reaching their websites and APIs and take the right action before unwanted requests consume resources. It combines network and browser fingerprints, proxy and IP intelligence, request behaviour, rate limits and security signals to assess traffic risk and business value. Requests can then be allowed, challenged, slowed, blocked, cached or logged. Peakhour specialists help customers tune policies and measure the impact on customer experience, application load and analytics, whether using Peakhour’s edge platform or integrating with an existing edge provider.

Why I created this solution

I co-founded Peakhour because the people responsible for an application need to understand the traffic reaching it and have practical control over what happens next. Unwanted automation can quietly raise costs, slow customers down and undermine business decisions, yet effective protection is often complex or priced beyond the teams that need it. We built Peakhour to make strong security and performance controls accessible, and to pair them with the expertise needed to put the evidence to work.

Daniel D'Alessandro Credentials

I am Peakhour's Co-Founder and Head of Performance Engineering. Since Peakhour was founded in 2017, our team has worked on application delivery, caching, website performance and request-path protection for Australian digital businesses. My published writing covers practical performance measurement and optimisation, including WebPageTest, dynamic content caching and bot challenges and conversion. Peakhour's published customer work includes Gumtree's traffic-quality project and Kitchen Warehouse's performance and resilience project.

Why Peakhour

Key features that make Peakhour so good

It can provide the edge delivery layer or integrate with supported existing-edge platforms. Peakhour focuses on practical traffic challenges such as scraping, credential attacks, unwanted crawlers, origin overload and polluted analytics, helping organisations classify traffic and apply proportionate controls without necessarily requiring a large enterprise security program.
